1 YEAR AND MY SCREEN GOES OUT

I purchased an ALL IN ONE Touchscreen desktop computer (HP Touchsmart 310 PC) in December 2010 for over $800. One year and 2 months later the screen goes out and I am told nothing is covered beyond 1 year. I would expect HP would have some additional warranty for a screen. I am a very loyal customer to HP and am very dissapointed. To think $856.00 for the user of a computer for 1 year. To top it off I am transferred to a department where I gave all of my serial/product #s to then be transferred to the Touchsmart division. I have to ask the representative 6 times throughout the call if he is there or is there something I am supposed to be doing because he did not communicate his actions. He was logginh information and researching possible problems I learned after the fourth time asking. All in all I doubt I will purchase another product from HP and I am very dissapointed.

Repair or replace my computer

Well my friends I am happy to report HP did in fact take care of all
repairs and it didn't cost me anything. My complaint generated a
callback from Kyle Kaneshiro who was professional and sincere in his
quest to make me happy. I felt as though for once a big corporation
did have someone in management who actually cared. His word was true
and as promised once I had the computer repaired and forwarded the
invoice, I received a check.
Warranties are hardly used when I purchase them, yet I have had them
come in handy. I guess the right thing to do is buy them if the
product is over a certain amount and would be costly to replace. This
time I was lucky to have had a caring executive respond and I must say
"Kyle, thank you for your help, you are a true blessing" Thanks HP and
I will continue my loyalty in future purchases.

You were offered an Extended warranty, and declined. I have seen
several touchscreen machines by hp in my shop in the last year, one
supposedly had a "bad Screen" it was the motherboard the rest had
failed hard drives

There is a reason for extended warranties electronics stop working.

Its great buying the latest and greatest isn't it. 2010 - only a
couple options $800.00 lasts a year 2012 - Tons of options $200.00+
lasts?

Is the same model still available? If it is, simply buy that EXACT
same model, wait a day, reformat the hard drive of the original back
to factory specs so-as to refresh all the dates and erase anything you
did since the day you originally bought it, and return the old one in
the new box with the new receipt.

i work for a computer repair store and I can tell you right off the
bat... they are NOT going to repair something for you for free if it's
out of warranty.

sure it's not what you want to hear but that's why most stores offer
you extended warranties.

and believe me - i hear customers saying "i spent all THIS and it's
not covered???" and the answer is "Yep. It's not covered."

The thing is - this isn't an HP-only issue. It's an issue with EVERY
COMPUTER MANUFACTURER. They don't do free repairs when the warranty
is already expired.

Even if you think they should. Even if you tell them how much money
you spent. NONE of that ever means "my warranty is as long as I think
it should be".
