I bought this HP after comparing to surrounding laptops. I am beside myself with this computer. After 2 weeks I noticed the computer is so slow its frustrating! Then I realize the fan is always on, it constantly runs. the left side of computer gets so hot I can not rest my hand on the computer while typing. When I called customer service to ask if I can return it. They tell me NO. They will buy it back for less . I have to use this laptop daily and it is infuriating. I had bought an HP years ago and had so many problems with it. I went thru 2 replacements for that one. The last HP I ended up with last time was great, The only reason I even considered buying another HP. I got lucky I guess. I will never buy HP again. This has caused so much stress on me. I took my families money to get a personal laptop, Now I feel selfish and I ripped my entire family off!
I think this laptop should be replaced or have the option to return a defective product.

You have a machine with a higher power cpu and a higher power graphics card it is normal for it to run warm. If you are gaming, even normal to get hot. The work that is doing needs to be cooled down somehow. I would make sure that the fan isn't getting cloged up. Make sure you are using the laptop on a flat hard surface like a table. If you are using in on you lap you are probably blocking the fan and it can't cool down. If not it sounds like you are past the buyers remorse timer period so it is probably past the 2 weeks. What you will need to do is send it back to HP and have them take a look at it and see if the can fix it. So far I personally have over 6 HP made laptops and in exclusion of 2, all are over 2 years old and still working great. For slowness I would backup everything you want and reload the os. Sounds like your probably got a virus or something.

Laptops do tend to get hot, but it shouldnt be all the time, and certainly not too hot to touch.
Laptop fans though typically will have the fan running while its being used. If it sits for awhile doing nothing it may cycle off. Its the nature of the beast when you have all that hardware crammed into a small space with little breathing room.
As for how slow it is, esspecially if its new its probably due to all the crap that gets loaded up, things like real player, aol, msn, free(sic) services, antivirus, firewalls etc. any icons on the desktop will tell you whats loading.
