Purchased Officejet 8500 last month for home office use. The first one, brand new out of the box had an issue and would not cycle to a point where I could print. After many hours of being online with India call centers, the only way to resolve this issue was to buy there HP are pack. In this case, HP shipped me a refurb print frame only overnight so I could at least print. This printer worked for 3 weeks until it started the same symptoms of the first 8500 which was to go into diagnostic testing mode ufor 26 hours until it finally buirned itself out. Once again called HP customer service and spoke wit ANJIT in India. Everything went well up to the point of asking for my credit card number for collateral which I understood. Next comment I heard from ANJIT was. your address is 345 Pacer street, Baltimore, MD??????? No, I live in Ohio and not in Maryland. ANJIT was so confused and flustered that he hung up on me. After 27 minutes, this guy hung up on me because he was confused. Called back and now the new rep, MIKE wanted me to troubleshoot the printer. Hard to troubleshoot when there's nothing on the LCD screen or any way to power up a dead printer. Once again, same result only I got the rare opportunity to speak with his "MENTOR" who was even more incompetent. Spent another 37 minutes on the phone, went through credit card details AGIAN and he assured me I would have a printer on 11/26 which would be 1 day shipping according to customer care pack that I bought. I knew something was wrong because I didn't receive any emails about the shipment. Called again on Friday and spoke once again to the India call center where I was informed that no printer was shipped because HP could not validate my care package and it was in someone elses name, not mine. They again, after 32 minutes, referred me to their complaints department who would contact me someime in the near future. All this time. I have no printer, no way to print. I was forced to go and buy a new Canon printer which works flawlessly. So far on Monday, 11/29, no calls from HP or printer showing up. Also going to file BBB complaing against HP for their obvious fruad and deception.
Send me an upgarded version of the Officejet 8500 as well as all the ink jet supplies for the time wasted. I cannot afford the time to keep replacing the printer and wasting time with people that cannot understand.
