Battery powered "Push button for assistance" devices = crap

Home Depot now have these "Push button for assistance" devices placed near areas that you are required to have assistance, such as cutting rope or chain. These devices are cheap battery powered devices which do not have notification if it is functioning or not. I have been to several Home Depots in my area with the same problem. The devices are dead. There is nothing more frustrating then pushing the button for assistance, waiting and no one shows up! My last experience in the aisle to have a cable wire cut there were no employees to help me. I pushed the device button for assistance and waited, no help showed up. I walked through the lumber area not finding any one to help me. I then walked down to the plumbing area to find three employees standing talking to each other. I approached them and requested help to have the cable cut. I was told by one of them that "I don't work in that department". I about gave it to that employee, but I refrained by saying, I don't care if you don't work in that department, I need someone to help me cut a cable. One of the other employees came forward to say he could help me do it. He walked me down to the cable cutting area and did as he said he would do. I inquired about the assistance device and he verified it was battery powered. I then took my cable up front to pay for it and requested to speak with the store manager. After waiting at least 10 minutes, the store manager showed up and I took him back to show him the device and explain how frustrating it is, if it isn't working. He pulled it from the post and I assumed will be charging it back up for use tomorrow.
Can someone from headquarters listen to me? Hardwire those devices in or at least make them so if they are out of power, it is physically noticeable! The price you are paying for these cheap devices are not worth the frustration the customer gets when they don't work!

Replace the battery powered devices with hard wired electric ones or make some sort of notice on the device itself that it will not function if battery power is out!

If the device doesn't work why sit there staring at it? Go get
someone, you know like you do in most stores. If you don't see anyone
go to customer service.

And the previous poster is correct if the person isn't trained to use
the machine do you really want him to hurt himself? Just ask him to
page the correct person.

I understand your frustration but... if he doesn't work in that
department the chances are he doesn't know how to do it properly.

Remember, just because you see him "talking" to other employees
doesn't mean he's qualified to do the job you want, or that he should
be a personal punching bag.
