ROBBERY ON YOUR PART

Posted Wed April 16, 2008 2:13 pm, by s m. written to Home Depot, Inc.

Write a Letter to this Company  |  Rate this Company

We sent a check to pay off our Home Depot account over a month ago and it hasn't been posted YET. Every time we call, we get some Indian on the phone who says, over and over, "Have not receive check." How the Hell do THEY know? They're on a backstreet in Delhi somewhere, telling me they don't have my check. We think Home Depot is ripping us off.

POST THE *&^%$# CHECK!

How do you know it wasn't a person of Indian descent in America?

I used to work in a call center and one of my closest friends there
(who still is a friend 2 1/2 years after we left) was first generation
born in America to parents from India.

She would get accosted by your type on the phone all the time.

Funny thing is we gave driving directions and one time this idiot was
going on and on and on making nasty comments. He was about 1/2 mile
from where our call center was!

." How the Hell do THEY know?

Because, believe it or not, they have computers on backstreets in
Delhi.

That's why they know your *^%$&^ check hasn't been posted.

This letter is extremely inappropriate.

1. Check with your bank. If the check is not posted, you have not been
robbed. Put a stop payment on the check and send it again. Things get
lost in the mail all the time.

2. Your remark towards the indian community was really inappropriate -
Just omit that entirely. People of all ethnicity are inept.

3. Implying profanity is still profanity.

Don't worry. The way our economy is going, Indian companies are going
to be able to make more money by outsourcing their own outsourcing
contracts back to the States.

that "indian on a backstreet in dehli" probably makes more money than
you do. they're not the ones flipping out over a late payment and the
fees that entails.

if i know call centers (and i do), that rep and his friends probably
got a good laugh out of you. just sayin'.

Pay your account off in person! That way you can cut up the card in
front of a person, and blame the young girl in front of you for your
poor, pathetic, angry life.

Talked to Karma this morning. She says she's looking forward to
slapping some late charges onto your bill.

Try calling your bank, see if the check has cleared, maybe it got lost
in the mail, maybe it got tossed by accident, who knows?!?

But, insulting an operator in India isn't going to help you avoid
those late charges.

How's your handwriting? Maybe the check got lost in the mail, and the
folks in Delhi never got the check?

If it's really "ROBBERY", call 411 and ask for the Delhi 911 number
and file a report!

Outsourcing this type of service is quite common in the U.S.A. I wuold
reccomend you make payment at the store. Since you are close enough to
shop there, make the payment there. Another option is telephonic and or
computer banking. This would be posted the next buisness day.

How exactly is this robbery? Oh, robbery of the dignity and
reputation of the Indian in Delhi. I see now.

Is the term "diversity training" in your vocabulary? If not, check it
out. Some people need it.

If they don't have your check, did it occur to you it may have been
lost? If this had been I, I would have noticed the check had not
cleared and called the HD office after a week or so, and if the check
had not been received, I would have cancelled payment and sent another
check. While that costs money, it isn't worth the late fee and damage
to your record to allow a payment to arrive late.

I actually haven't sent a check to pay for a credit cards in years. I
use ACH online because it gives me peace of mind that a payment
*won't* be lost in the mail.

Oh calm down - - ever heard of a check being lost in the mail? Do you
really think this letter is going to do you any good? If you do,
think again. Call you bank, stop payment on the original check and
mail another one. This isn't rocket science. Sheesh.

Someone's in desperate need of diversity training. And believe me, it
ain't the "Indian on a backstreet in Delhi"!

by Lisa H. Posted Wed April 16, 2008 @ 3:55 PM

I assume of course you've checked with your bank to see if the check
has cleared. If so, then you need to send a fax of it, or a copy to
HD's headquarters.

If it hasn't, then you'll need to send another one.

If you haven't checked with your bank, why haven't you?

Charming, just charming. Of course they know whether or not they
received your check, they do have computers where they access your
account information.

If it hasn't cleared your bank than there is no robbery. It is simply
lost.

a nasty person, and I believe in karma... and guess where that comes
from? Delicious irony.

Why do people write business letters while their emotions have the
better of them? Mail does occassionally get lost.

Simply stop payment and reissue, maybe pay over the phone this time.
I honestly cannot recall the last check I wrote, unless it was for
pizza or rent.

Just about all my bills are paid online, most of them automatically
either on a payday or a due date, which ever works best for me. I
dont have to pay postage and I dont have to worry about something
getting lost

by All About the Branding Posted Wed April 16, 2008 @ 2:31 PM

Well, the person you're talking to hasn't received your check. Nor,
apparently, has the person whose job it is to receive the checks and
put that information into the computer system that "some Indian" is
looked at when you call.

It sounds like they haven't cashed the check, so how are they ripping
YOU off? Don't they want their money? Until they deposit your check,
they're losing money.

So, not a rip off.

Annoying and frustrating, sure. As a result of mail delay?
Improperly handling of the mail? A strong wind that blew the check
out the window?

Perhaps.

s m,

Stop payment on the check and send them another.

This time send it USPS Return Receipt Requested so you will have
confirmation they got it.

That guy in Delhi is doing the best he can so give him a break.
