garden center

At HD in Waynesboro VA on Memorial day, wall-building blocks in the garden center cost $1.57 each. A week later, I went back to now order 2 full pallets (288 blocks), but the price was now $1.87 each. The manager said that was the price, no discount, period, unless the sale exceeded $2500. I declined and left.

This seems to be a lose/lose situation: I have no blocks, you have no sale and do have an aggravated customer. But the next time they go on sale, I'll get them for $1.57 anyway, so what's the problem?

That is, if I don't get them first at Walmart (1 mile away), or Lowes (0.5 miles away). With this kind of competition, can you really afford to drive your customer away unsatisfied? Just asking.

So you, as an unsatisfied customer, will not do business with Home
Depot because the wall-bldg. blocks are no longer on sale? Why all the
fuss over having to spend 30 cents more per wall-bldg. block?

You chose to leave. Home Depot did not drive you away.

Wow, really? You missed the sale, end of story. I think I'll go into
Kroger tonight and demand they sell a 2 liter of coke for $.99 since
it was on sales 3 weeks ago. It just doesn't work that way.

oooh I'm sure they're so scared! You're going to take your business
elsewhere, on no!

Geez, just buy them where they are cheaper and closer to your house.
Why all the drama?

If you could pick and chose which week you wanted a previous sale
price, there wouldn't be any point of having the sale price in the
first place would there.

You wanted to order them while they weren't on sale anymore.

"But the next time they go on sale, I'll get them for $1.57 anyway, so
what's the problem?"

Exactly! So whats the problem?

That's the whole idea. To get them WHILE they are on sale.
