My adult daughter went to the Home Depot in Moore, Oklahoma this past weekend to buy a set of bolt cutters and a new lock. She asked a clerk to direct her to the location of the bolt cutters. The man proceeded to holler at the top of his voice to two fellow clerks (who were way down the aisle), "Hey guys! Where are the bolt cutters? This woman locked herself out of her shed!" Nothing like humiliating your customer, Moore Home Depot!!! This is not the first time I've witnessed poor customer service at this Home Depot. I bought a very expensive lawn mower there earlier this year and it took the clerk almost half an hour to help me. I was told he was on a break. I guess no other clerk could help??!! Stupid especially since Lowe's is just half a mile away. And Tractor Supply and WalMart is across the street.
Teach the Moore Home Depot clerks some common manners!!! I'm not sure what it will take to get my daughter to return there again. She is a new home owner and has a ton of things she needs to buy and a lot of money ready to spend. You figure out what it will take to get her to be a return customer.

Shouldn't your adult daughter be typing this letter herself?

I think the only thing that would embarass me more than that is having my mother write a letter on my behalf.
Your daughter is an adult, capable of buying a house, she should be writing her own letter. It means nothing coming from you.

I'd be embarrassed if my mother wrote a letter like this on my behalf. I figure if I'm adult enough to have a shed that I'm locked out of, I can stand up for myself and not need my mommy to do it for me.

Don't sweat the small stuff.
Rather than writing letters on your daughter's behalf, take the time to teach her that life is full of things like this and if you can find the humor in it, you're 10 steps ahead of the game.
Myself, I'd have been laughing right along with the clerks at my screwup. It's not like he was patronizing or insulting. Or, perhaps, he specified WHY she needed boltcutters in case one of the other clerks had a better, less-expesive idea as to how to solve her problems.
Life is a whole lot easier when you let things like this just go without getting so upset.

"You figure out what it will take to get her to be a return customer."
If your daughter truly is an adult perhaps it would be best if she works this out with Home Depot herself.
Having said that, I agree Home Depot's customer service leaves a lot to be desired. My husband and I were just there this past Sunday. Afterwards, we wondered why we bothered. But, like Walmart, I don't think customer service is exactly their niche.
Maybe I'll get my mom to write a complaint letter for me.

Your "adult daughter" had an issue with them and YOU are writing this letter?
If you want to let them know about your OWN bad experiences, that's great, but it takes all the steam out of your complaint to find out you're writing 3rd party about an incident you didn't even SEE for yourself.
Next time, let your ADULT daughter be an ADULT and handle her own affairs.

If your "adult daughter" is so easily humiliated, how would she feel about her mommy writing a letter on her behalf?

Whenever I cant find anything at a store, after I look myself, I ask customer service.
The clerks on the floor may not know every aspect of the store, but Customer Service knows who to call.
BTW, how did the clerk know you locked yourself out of your shed if you didnt tell him?
Did you tell the clerk that was a bit unappropriate? Was he a special needs guy? Did you tell the manager on the way out?
Good Day
