"08 Accord burning >1 quart / 1000 miles driven

I own a 2008 Honda Accord that has been burning oil. It has equaled out to be approximately >1 quart per 1000 mile driven. From what I am being told - from Honda of America as well as the local Honda dealer - is that this amount of oil consumption is ACCEPTABLE! This alone furiates me. This tells me that Honda has no faith in their engines. A new car....actually a car in general, should not burn ANY oil - let alone 1 quart per 1000 miles. And then to be told that this is acceptable... I even work at Honda - and can't believe this. This would mean that by the time I am in need of a routine oil change - there would be NO oil left in the car! I have never owned a new car that I have had to add oil to in between services. UNACCEPTABLE

I would like Honda of America to offer warrenty service for the issue at hand, and back their product!

It is not a new car, it is a 4 year old car.

How many miles does it have on it?

There are some older cars that burn a quart a week. My van burns more
than a quart ever 1000 miles.

It does seem high.

Take it to an independent mechanic and see what he/she says. It may
be something very simple like a seal. You never know until you check
it out. Waiting and hoping that it will get better on its own is
rarely a good strategy.

A quart of oil per 1,000 miles seems crazy high to me.

Unfortunately, unless you brought this to their attention while the
car still was under warranty, you're most likely out of luck.

an 08 accord holds 4.5 quarts of oil, an oil change is for every 3000
miles so if you were burning 1 quart per 1000 miles you should have
1.5 quarts left when you go to get an oil change.

Either way I dont see them giving you a warranty on a 4 year old car.
