Pre-approved Credit Card Offer

I was pre-approved for a HSBC Platinum Mastercard. After I applied, I was declined because I already have 2 accounts with HSBC, through Orchard Bank. I was not aware that this was the rule or that having an established credit relation with one of HSBC's partnering companies ruled me out for other products. I called to verify this information with a customer service representative and to be reconsidered for the card since my payment history with HSBC has been flawless. I was told that I could not be reconsidered and to try again in the future.

I would either like to be reconsidered for the Platinum Mastercard or I would like the hard inquiry removed from my credit report. If I had been aware of the rule, I never would have applied for the pre-approved card without first closing one of my other accounts.
