I hope everyone had a great easter. The weather is starting to turn nice
and my flowers are blooming, I love going out my front door in the morning
and seeing that another flower has opened. This is my favorite time of
year!

On the down side, my daughter broke her collar bone on Good Friday. She
fell out of her chair at the kitchen table while leaning out of the chair
to pick up a marker she had dropped. She fell and hit the floor snapping
her collar bone in half. She is in for at least a month of recovery and
has to go see an Orthopaedic Specialist, to make sure she is healing
properly. She is uncomfortable but the pain seems to get a little better
every day, she is using Tylenol with codeine and ibuprofen around the clock
and that is keeping the pain under control.

This is an actual letter from an Austin woman sent to American company
Proctor and Gamble regarding their feminine products. She really gets
rolling after the first paragraph. It's PC Magazine's 2007 editors'
choice for best webmail-award-winning letter.

Dear Mr. Thatcher,

I have been a loyal user of your 'Always' maxi pads for over 20 years and I
appreciate many of their features. Why, without the LeakGuard Core or
Dri-Weave absorbency, I'd probably never go horseback riding
or salsa dancing, and I'd certainly steer clear of running up and down the
beach in tight, white
shorts. But my favorite feature has to be
your revolutionary Flexi-Wings. Kudos on being the only company smart
enough to realize how crucial it is that maxi pads be aerodynamic. I can't
tell you how safe and secure I feel each month knowing there's a
little F-16 in my pants.

Have you ever had a menstrual period, Mr. Thatcher? I'm guessing you
haven't. Well, my time of the month is starting right now. As I type,I can
already feel hormonal forces violently surging through my body.
Just a few minutes from now, my body will adjust and I'll be transformed
into what my husband likes to call 'an inbred hillbilly with knife skills.'
Isn't the human body amazing?

As Brand Manager in the Feminine-Hygiene Division, you've no doubt seen
quite a bit of research on what exactly happens during your customer's
monthly visits from 'Aunt Flo'. Therefore, you must know about the
bloating, puffiness, and cramping we endure, and about
our intense mood swings, crying jags, and out-of-control behavior. You
surely realize it's a tough time for most women.

The point is, sir, you of all people must realize that America is just
crawling with homicidal maniacs in Capri pants... Which brings me to the
reason for my letter. Last month, while in the throes of cramping
so painful I wanted to reach inside my body and yank out my uterus, I
opened an Always maxi-pad, and there, printed on the adhesive backing, were
these words: 'Have a Happy Period.'

Are you f------ kidding me? What I mean is, does any part of your tiny
middle-manager brain really think happiness - actual smiling, laughing
happiness, is possible during a menstrual period? Did anything
mentioned above sound the least bit pleasurable? Well, did it, James? FYI,
unless you're some kind of sick S&M freak, there will never be anything
'happy' about a day in which you have to jack yourself up on
Motrin and Kahlua and lock yourself in your house just so you don't march
down to the local Walgreen's armed with a hunting rifle and a sketchy plan
to end your life in a blaze of glory.

For the love of God, pull your head out, man! If you have to slap a moronic
message on a maxi pad, wouldn't it make more sense to say something that's
actually pertinent, like 'Put down the Hammer' or 'Vehicular Manslaughter
is Wrong',

Sir, please inform your Accounting Department that, effective immediately,
there will be an $8 drop in monthly profits, for I have chosen to take my
maxi-pad business elsewhere. And though I will certainly miss your
Flex-Wings, I will not for one minute miss your
brand of condescending bullshit. And that's a promise I will keep.Always.
.

Best,

April 16, 2007, the day that Virginia Tech, and the entire nation was
wounded. It was on this day one year ago that a senseless tragedy
happened. An act so horrific, committed by one so disturbed. It has been a
year and some healing has started, but for many the pain is still so raw.

As a parent how do you cope? How could you cope? What about the parents
and the family of the gun man, they are in the depths of sorrow as well.
Things like this are not supposed to happen. Most killed were young
college students in a sense just starting their lives. Let us not forget
the older people, the teachers and faculty also gunned down trying to save
as many lives as possible.

Please take a moment today to quietly reflect. Look around at what you
have and be thankful. Hug and kiss your children more than normal, because
stuff like this happens, hopefully it will never happen to any of us.

Dyeing Easter Eggs.

I usually hate this just because of the mess. This year however I found
this nifty thing at Wal-mart, that took a lot of the mess and hassle out of
it. It is an egg spinner thing. It was $5.00 and came with 10 packets of
paint. It is a 2 part contraption, the bottom part is where you place the
egg and the color(s) just a few drops, the top part attaches and has a
button on the top, you just press the button (kind of like a top) and the
egg swirls around and collects the dye. In between colors you just rinse
out with warm water and then wipe off excess water with a paper towel and
move on. The kids had a blast and none of us wound up with dye all over
us, I did not have to use any smelly vinegar, or wait for dye tablets to
dissolve. Stress free!!!

Sun 10/28 at New England 4:15 pm--- lose probably
Sun 11/4 at NY Jets 1:00 pm ---win probably
Sun 11/11 Philadelphia 1:00 pm--- win probably

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

This should probably be taped to your bathroom mirror where one could read
it everyday. You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.

2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.

3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be
just like you.

4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like
you.

5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.

6. You mean the world to someone.

7. You are special and unique.

8. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.

9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.

10. When you think the world has turned its back on you take another look.

11. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude
remarks.

Those were the words she used, the ones that broke my heart in two. For
those of you who may not know, I have 2 wonderful children. My daughter is
7 and getting ready to go into second grade, my son is 3 & 1/2. I know it
is cliche, but my kids really are my life, THEY are the one thing in my
life that I did RIGHT.

My son is not really talking. He does talk, in short sentences and
phrases. He is not anywhere near where he should be though. I knew for
awhile that this was an issue, but only recently found the courage to have
him tested. You know in your heart that something is not right, but it is
human nature I think, to hope that if you just ignore it, it will just fix
itself. I was stunned, and in shock when she said Significant Delay, I
knew there was a delay but the word Significant scares the hell out of me.

The good news is that he is still young. They hopefully will be able to
identify what is causing the delay. Once that is determined, my husband
and I along with the educators will hopefully find a way to correct it, and
get him where he is supposed to be BEFORE he starts Kindergarten in 2
years. I am willing to do whatever it takes, I just hope it works. My son
is so sweet and he really is very smart, I guess people who do not know him
like I do don't realize how smart he really is.

Next step is a Child Find committee meeting to determine if he qualifies
for further testing (he will), then a home visit to basically administer
the same tests he had at the office in our home to see if he does better in
a familiar environment. Then on to IEP (Individualized Education Program),
and hopefully with love and guidance he will make strides and pick up the
pace to where he is "supposed" to be.

In the mean time I have to get over the sense of failure, the feeling that
*I* did something wrong. My head knows that I am not to blame, I just wish

Joe Cocker - Feels Like Forever

I saw you
That was all I had to see
Wanted you
Had to have you next to me
>From that moment
I knew that you'd be all I'd ever need
And there's a place inside my heart
Nobody's touched before
And when I found you
I found all that I'd been searching for
You turned my world around

All I know
Is that it feels like forever
All I know
Yes I love the way it feels
All I see
Is how good we are together
And I never wanna see it slip away
I'll never let you go
Is all I know

Hold me
Love is here for us to make
Stay with me
Let's put our hearts in the hands of fate
Time will tell us
If what we've got was worth the wait
And there's a fire that's been burning deep inside of me
And I don't need nobody else
'Cause now you're here with me
You've turned my world around

All I know
That it feels like forever
All I know
Is I love the way it feels
All I see
Is how good we are together
And I never want to see it slip away
I'll never let you go
Is all I know

I might have never met you
At another time or place
Never I never could forget you
I could never walk away
That's all I know
'Cause there's a place inside my heart
Nobody's touched before
And when I found you
I found all that I'd been searching for
You've turned my world around

All I know
Is it feels like forever
All I know
Is I love the way it feels
All I see
is how good we are together
And I never want to see it slip away
I'll never let you go

All I know
Is it feels like forever
All I know
Is I love the way it feels
All I see
Is how good we are together
And I never want to see it slip away
I'll never let you go
It's all I know
Is it feels like forever

Is I love the way it feels

Time once again to review the winners of the
Annual "Stella Lawsuit Awards." The Stella Awards are named after 81
year-old Stella Liebeck, who spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully
sued McDonald's (in NM). That case Inspired the Stella Lawsuit Awards for
the most frivolous, ridiculous, stupid, but successful lawsuits in the
United States

Here are this year's winners.......

5th Place (tie):
Kathleen Robertson of Aust in, Texas, was awarded $80,000, by a jury of her
peers, after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running
inside a furniture store. The owners of the store was understandably
surprised at the verdict, considering the misbehaving little toddler was
Ms. Robertson's own son.

5th Place (tie):
19-year-old Carl Truman of Los Angeles won $74,000
and medical expenses when his neighbor ran over his hand with a Honda
Accord. Mr. Truman apparently didn't notice there was someone at the wheel
of the car when he was trying to steal the car's hubcaps.

5th Place (tie):
Terrence Dickson of Bristol, Pennsylvania, was leaving a house he had just
finished robbing, by way of the garage. He was not able to get the garage
door to go up since the automatic door opener was malfunctioning. He
couldn't re-enter the house because the door connecting the house and
garage locked when he pulled it shut. The family was on vacation , and
Mr.Dickson found himself locked in the garage for eight days. He subsisted
on a case of Pepsi he found, and a large bag of dry dog food. He sued the
homeowner's insurance claiming the situation
caused him undue mental anguish. The jury agreed, to the tune of $500,000.

4th Place :
Jerry Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas, was awarded $14,500 and medical
expenses after being bit on the buttocks by his next door neighbor's
beagle. The beagle was on a chain in its owner's fenced yard. The award was
less than sought because the jury felt the dog might have been just a
little provoked at the time by Mr. Williams, who had climbed over the fence
into the yard and was shooting it repeatedly with a pellet gun.

3rd Place :
A Philadelphia restaurant was ordered to pay Amber Carson of Lancaster,
Pennsylvania, $113,500 after she slipped on a soft drink and broke her
coccyx (tailbone). The beverage was on the floor because Ms. Carson had
thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument.

2nd Place :
Kara Walton of Claymont, Delaware, successfully sued the owner of a night
club in a neighboring city when she fell from the bathroom window to the
floor and knocked out her two front teeth. This occurred while Ms. Walton
was trying to sneak through the window in the ladies room to avoid paying
the $3.50 cover charge. She was awarded $12,000 and dental expenses.

1st Place :
This year's runaway winner was Mrs. Merv Grazinski of Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma Mrs. Grazinski purchased a brand new 32-foot Winnebago motor home.
On her first trip home, having driven onto the freeway, she set the cruise
control at 70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go into the back to
make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, the RV left the freeway, crashed
and overturned. Mrs. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not advising her in the
owner's manual that she couldn't actually do this. The jury awarded her
$1,750,000 plus a new motor home. The company actually changed their
manuals on the basis of this suit, just in case there were any other total
morons around.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me these are not true, or that there were
someother circumstances at play here....I have heard of a few of these
cases, the lady tripping over her own kid and the guy trapped in the
garage.....THESE are people that we share the planet with! :::SHUDDERS:::

Found this on bloglines, truly, truly, sad......

"poor custmer service
we had one of our three phones exceed our plan minutes. this is unlike our
history of 5 years with sprint pcs. so we called to try and dismiss the
charges. once on the phone the customer service rep told us if we increased
our plan the charges would go away. so we did that and made a partial
payment. we were told to call back in a few days when we did the custmer
service person told us they had no record of it. but our new more ixpensive
plan was updated. so we explained the problem again. called back a few days
later and again they the costumer service person had no notes of us calling
trying to dismiss the charges that we were told were already gone. so a few
more days go by and we recieve a phone call that our service is going to be
cut off, so we explain the situtation again, but they incorrectly make note
that we are trying to dismiss the last three years of phone bills which is
not the case we had one month out of years we had exceed our plan minutes.
so over the last three weeks to a month we have been on the phone for hours
trying to get help. we have recieved nothing but attitude from customer
service reps. sprint costomer service reps on repeted occasian have told us
that since we have a good history and made a partial payment and increased
our plan that it should dismiss the one month we exceeded our minutes, but
nothing has been done and we are still being harassed by custmer service
reps when they call us and when we call them. even if we did not have a
long good history with sprint in reference to our account, and never
exceeding our plan minutes. i feel since we have been given the run around
and been told lies, and been made assurence form their company
representiives we should not be held responsible for the excessive minutes
which gave our account a huge bill. we have done our part repeatdely and
our phone records over the past few weeks will show how long we have spent
on the phone with sprint customer service reps. being a soldier in the
military deployed in iraq while all this happened giving my wife all this
troulbe i feel we should be given compensation. "

I did not write this, found it on bloglines. Am I the only one that is
bothered that this is the product that the school systems in the country
are cranking out? I have 2 children in school.....OYE!

My husband works for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), many
moons ago I worked for them as well (that is where I met hubby). Anyhoo, I
am getting annoyed with a certain poster here (you know who you are), that
is telling people to complain to the FCC about every little wireless issue
there is. This is the same poster who had it out for United Airlines and
once told a poster to contact DOT to file a complaint because she did not
get a snack on her flight (you guys remember Princess Shannon?).

By telling people to file basically silly complaints to the wrong
government agencies, is a huge waste of taxpayer paid for resources. Most
of the complaints on here are contract complaints which the FCC would not
have jurisdicition over anyway. If you truly feel that you are being
scammed or not getting what you are paying for then perhaps the Federal
Trade Commision (FTC) is the agency for you. Filing with the wrong agency
is adding to the already snail like process of the Federal Government.

So before you go telling a poster to complain to the FCC because their
phone does not work at their place of employment, or the DOT because they
did not get the whole can of soda on their flight, remember that right now
(especially in this day and age), the DOT and FCC are working on more
important things (like tracking terrorists, and ensuring that we have the
communication network we need incase of another terrorist attack), please
do not make their jobs any more difficult, just because you want to cause
trouble and be a pot stirrer.

policys = policies

Did we not learn about suffixes in first grade. Apparently we are to busy
teaching our children how to circumvent and cheat the sytems in place
(return policies, warranties, etc), to teach them good old reading,
writing, and arithmetic!

I cry for the world that my children are growing up in now.

I am sure I will be back soon, these letters are just full of these common
misspellings among other things that show the true state of education in
this country!

this is the one from the girl who changed her wireless plan to a cheaper
one with less minutes, but did not curtail her jabber jawing and is shocked
that she went over and has to *gasp* pay the overage. She says that the
company should cut her a break. The she throws in the fact that the
original contract was when she was a minor (17) like somehow that makes a
difference now that she has ammended the contract after she was of contract
age. The something about her phone and it being stolen, so she had her
service suspended because of the phone being stolen. When she went to get
a new phone she was shocked that there was no coverage (she had not
purchased insurance) and now she would have to purchase a new phone out of
pocket...........sheesh girl GROW THE HELL UP!!!!!!!!!!

Or how about the one from the "Veteran" who thinks he is more special than
anyone else and Radio Shack should bow to him, because he is obviously is
the only active duty member in the whole wide world.....

this letter reeks of entitlement...man I hate that.

Or the people begging for credit, or the girl that has an open case with
chexsystems and has trouble exchanging at Walmart where she owes money, or
the people who do not understand how their banks work, and do not bother to
learn until the get hit with a million overdraft fees and somehow it is the
banks fault, or the guy that can't open the savings account despite
deplorable credit history and can't understand why his credit score has
anything to do with whether the bank will allow him to hae an account with
them or not.

Rarely do I read a letter on here where the OP was truly wronged through
completely no fault of their own! I am growing tired and weary of the it
is not my fault it is someone elses fault. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for the
things you do, teach your children to TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for what they
do.

End Rant

TV sweeps. I hate the way television is now. Some people reading this are
probably old enough to remember the good ole days of network television.
Remember the days when if you liked two shows and they came on at the same
time, you could watch one show during the initial run and then watch the
other show during re-run season? This was in the days before Tivo or DVR.

I liked watching a new episode of my favorite show every week. Now the new
season starts and gets about 3 or 4 episodes in and now you are watching a
months worth of re-runs from a previous season. It is very frustrating. I
loved NYPD Blue when it was on but especially the last season because they
showed all 22 episodes in order week after week, no taking a break in
between sweeps weeks. I understand why they have sweeps and they are big
money makers for the network. I find that I am not as loyal to certain
shows any more because they are either hard to follow when the episodes are
so far apart or I forget that it is on when it returns, and then it
gradually becomes I can live without it tv!

Just had to vent, because ER is like that now. The show just returned with
new episodes like 6 weeks ago and the season finale is Thursday. What?
Already? Have we had a full season yet, I don't even remember. UGH!! I
give up!!

Oh yeah oh yeah its springtime. Yeah! I love this time of year, and it is
finally here to stay. I love the flowers blooming and the birds chirping,
and the sun shining. I even love the thunderstorms :). Spring is a time
when life renews its self. It is so refreshing and puts me in a great
mood. It also keeps my pharmacy packed with all the seasonal allergy
sufferers (the pollen count has been crazy here lately).

I love this time, before long we will be into the dog days of summer and
the oppressive heat and humidity. So Don't worry be happy!! On another
note, my daughter will be 7 next week, where does the time go, it seems
like she was just a baby. Now she is almost 7 and finishing up first grade

On Friday April 20, 2007, the state of Virginia will honor and remember
those that we tragically lost on Monday April 16, 2007. If you would like
to join in our rememberance and honor the victims I ask that you wear
Orange and/or maroon on Friday. Those where the Virginia Tech colors. You
do not have to be a Virginian for this to have touched you, so please show
your support by wearing Orange and/or Maroon clothing on Friday. Thanks
for your support.

Ross Abdallah Alameddine, 20, of Saugus, Mass., according to his mother,
Lynnette Alameddine. Friends described the sophomore majoring in English,
business information technology and French as "an intelligent, funny,
easy-going guy."

Christopher James "Jamie" Bishop, 35, taught German at Virginia Tech and
helped oversee an exchange program with a German university. According to
his Web site, Bishop, a Fulbright scholar at Christian-Albrechts University
in Kiel, spent four years living in Germany, where he "spent most of his
time learning the language, teaching English, drinking large quantities of
wheat beer, and wooing a certain fraulein" the "fraulein" being Bishop's
wife, Stephanie Hofer, who also teaches in Virginia Tech's German program.

Brian Bluhm, 25, a master's student in water resources, received his
undergraduate degree in civil engineering at Tech and was getting ready to
defend his thesis. He already had accepted a job in Baltimore. Bluhm grew
up in Detroit and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan; his death was announced
before Tuesday's game against Kansas City, which Detroit went on to win
7-6. "He went to a game last weekend and saw them win, and I'm glad he
did," said Bluhm's close friend, Michael Marshall of Richmond, Va. Marshall
said it was his faith and work with the Baptist Collegiate Ministries that
his friend would foremost want to be remembered by.

Ryan Clark, 22, a student from Martinez, Ga., was a fifth-year student
working toward a triple-degree in psychology, biology and English and
carried a 4.0 grade-point average. He was a member of the Marching
Virginians band. He was a resident assistant at Ambler Johnson Hall, the
dorm where the first shootings took place. "He was just one of the greatest
people you could possibly know," friend Gregory Walton, 25, said. "He was
always smiling, always laughing. I don't think I ever saw him mad in the
five years I knew him."

Austin Cloyd, 18, a freshman, was an international studies major. She moved
to Blacksburg for her senior year in high school; her father is C. Bryan
Cloyd, a professor of accounting and information systems at Virginia Tech.
She was so inspired by an Appalachian service project that helped rehab
homes that she and her mother started a similar program in their Illinois
town, her former pastor said. The Rev. Terry Harter of First United
Methodist Church in Champaign, Ill., described Cloyd as a "very delightful,
intelligent, warm young lady" and an athlete who played basketball and
volleyball in high school. But it was the mission trips to Appalachia that
showed just how caring and faithful she was, he said.

Jocelyne Couture-Nowak, a French instructor at Virginia Tech, was
instrumental in the push to create the first French school in Truro, Nova
Scotia, where she lived in the 1990s with her husband, Jerzy Nowak. He is
the head of the horticulture department at Virginia Tech.

Peruvian student Daniel Perez Cueva, a 21-year-old international relations
major, was killed while in his French class, said his mother, Betty Cueva.
He grew up playing soccer on a potholed street outside his family's
apartment in the crime-ridden Bellavista neighborhood the port district of
Lima, Peru. He came to the United States with his mother and his sister
Vanesa, who is married to a soldier now fighting in Iraq. "He dreamed of
coming to Virginia Tech because of its prestige and he did it," his mother
Betty told Peruvian radio station RPP by phone from Virginia. "For my
children, I've made it through the good times and the bad in this country
... and we've worked it out little by little, until this happened."

Prof. Kevin Granata, 46, researched muscle and reflex response and
robotics. Ishwar K. Puri, head of the engineering science and mechanics
department, called Granata one of the top five biomechanics researchers in
the country working on movement dynamics in cerebral palsy. A fellow
professor Demetri Telionis, described Granata as a family man. "With so
many research projects and graduate students, he still found time to spend
with his family, and he coached his children in many sports and
extracurricular activities," Telionis said. "We will all miss him dearly."

Mathew Gregory Gwaltney, 24, of Chesterfield, Va., was on the brink of
finishing his master's degree in civil and environmental engineering, and
planned on returning to his hometown of Chester, Va., to be near his
parents. Gwaltney was completing his thesis on methods of predicting
droughts and already had several job offers from engineering firms. An avid
Hokies sports fan, Gwaltney was sports editor at his high school newspaper.
Principal Robert Stansberry of Thomas Dale High School remembered him as
being named "Best guy to take home to your parents."

Caitlin Hammaren, 19, of Westtown, N.Y., a sophomore majoring in
international studies and French. "She was just one of the most outstanding
young individuals that I've had the privilege of working with in my 31
years as an educator," said John P. Latini, principal of Minisink Valley
High School, from which she graduated in 2005. "Caitlin was a leader among
our students."

Jeremy Herbstritt, 27, was a graduate student in civil engineering from
Bellefonte, Pa. He did his undergraduate work in civil engineering,
biochemistry and molecular biology at Penn State. "He loves to talk. He's a
very talkative guy. You know, you can just hold a conversation with him any
time of day," his friend Ken Stanton said on CBS News' The Early Show.

Rachael Elizabeth Hill 18, was a graduate of Grove Avenue Christian School
in Henrico County and was a freshman at Virginia Tech. Her father, Guy Hill
of Glen Allen, Va., said his daughter was studying biology at the
university.

Emily Jane Hilscher, a 19-year-old freshman from Woodville and an animal
and poultry sciences major, was known in rural Rappahannock County as an
animal lover. County Administrator John McCarthy, a family friend, said she
worked at a veterinarian's office "and cared about them her whole life."

Jarrett Lane, 22, of Narrows, Va., a senior majoring in civil engineering,
liked Christian Alternative music, "The Simpsons" and "ESPN SportsCenter."
The valedictorian of his high school class in Narrows, Va., Lane was
described as fun-loving and "full of spirit" by his brother-in-law Daniel
Farrell.

Matt La Porte, a sophomore, of Dumont, N.J., was a 2005 graduate of the
Carson Long Military Institute in Perry County, Pa. He was majoring in
political science and leadership, and aspired to an Air Force commission.

Henry J. Lee also known as Henh Ly was the ninth of 10 siblings whose
family fled to the United States from Vietnam, arriving in Roanoke in 1994.
Friends described the diminutive Lee a first-year computer engineering and
French major as a serious student who wasn't necessarily a serious person,
"an extremely bubbly guy, always ready to go." Lee enjoyed racquetball,
engineering and Frisbee: "I'm just your typical short Asian (Chinese) guy,"
he wrote.

Prof. Liviu Librescu, 76, an Israeli born in Romania, survived the
Holocaust and built an international reputation for his research in
aeronautical engineering. He taught at Virginia Tech for 20 years. "With
the gunman set to enter his class, this brave professor blocked the door
with his body while his students fled to safety," said President Bush
Wednesday. Librescu will be buried in Israel.

Prof. G.V. Loganathan, 51, an Indian-born civil and environmental
engineering professor, had been a professor at Virginia Tech since 1982.
"For us it was like an electric shock. We've totally collapsed today," his
brother G.V. Palanivel said from the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
"Our parents are elderly and have broken down completely."

Partahi Lumbantoruan of Indonesia, a 34-year-old graduate student, had been
studying civil engineering at Virginia Tech for three years. His goal was
to become a teacher in the U.S. His family sold off property and cars to
pay his tuition, said his father, Tohom Lumbantoruan, a 66-year-old retired
army officer. "We tried everything to completely finance his studies in the
United States," he said. "We only wanted him to succeed in his studies, but
... he met a tragic fate." His stepmother, Sugiyarti, says he had called
almost daily to talk to the family; in their last conversation, he had
asked for the latest news on Indonesian politics. She wept as she asked why
people can bring guns to campus.

Lauren McCain, 20, was originally from Oklahoma but most recently lived in
the Hampton, Va., area. Home-schooled, she had worked at a department store
for about a year to save money for college. The freshman, who was an avowed
Christian, planned to major in international studies. Her uncle, Jeff
Elliott, speaking to The Oklahoman newspaper, described her as an avid
reader who was learning German and had almost mastered Latin.

Daniel O'Neil, 22, a graduate student in engineering from Lincoln, R.I.,
was a teaching assistant. O'Neil played guitar and wrote his own songs,
which he posted on a Web site, www.residenthippy.com. A high school friend,
Steve Craveiro, said O'Neil wrote was in the folk and acoustic vein. "He
would never talk himself up as a musician," Craveiro said. "He had a
personal relationship with his music." Katlyn Duquenoy, 22, who lives
across the street from the O'Neil family and graduated in the same high
school class, described him as extremely intelligent. "He probably would
have gone really far in life and been successful," she said.

Juan Ortiz, a 26-year-old graduate student in civil engineering from
Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He also taught, said his wife, Liselle Vega Cortes.
The family's neighbors remembered Ortiz as a quiet, dedicated son who
decorated his parents' one-story concrete house each Christmas and played
in a salsa band with his father on weekends. Ortiz's father said he was "an
extraordinary son, what any father would have wanted." Marilys Alvarez
heard Ortiz's mother scream from the house next door when she learned of
her son's death. The 22-year-old said she had wanted to study in the United
States, but was now reconsidering.

Minal Panchal, a 26-year-old graduate student in building sciences, was a
native of India, who wanted to be an architect like her late father. "She
was a brilliant student and very hardworking," said Chetna Parekh, a friend
who lives in the bustling middle-class Mumbai neighborhood of Borivali,
India, where Panchal lived before coming to Virginia Tech last year; "She
was focused on getting her degree and doing well." Another neighbor,
Jayshree Ajmane, called Panchal a bright, polite girl who would help the
neighborhood children with their schoolwork.

Erin Peterson, 18, from Centreville, Va., was a member of Phi Sigma Pi
Alpha Rho chapter. She was planning to major in international relations.
She attended the same high school as the gunman. Athletic (the 6-foot-1
Peterson played center for her high school girls' basketball team, helping
lead it to a district championship in her sophomore year), she was
described as inseparable from her father, except when it came to their
pro-football allegiances: "She was a Redskin," her godfather, Williams
Lloyd, said. "He was a Cowboy."

Michael Pohle, 23, of Flemington, N.J., was a senior in a five-year
program, majoring in biological sciences. A football and lacrosse player in
high school, one of his former coaches described him to the Newark
Star-Ledger as "a good kid who did everything that good kids do."

Julia Pryde, 23, a biological systems engineering graduate student from
Middletown, N.J., was known for being an exceptional student as well as for
her sweet demeanor. A professor says Pryde had traveled to Ecuador last
summer to research water quality issues. She had planned to return for
follow-up work.

Mary Karen Read was born in South Korea into an Air Force family and lived
in Texas and California before settling in Annandale, Va. Her aunt, Karen
Kuppinger in Rochester, N.Y., said her 19-year-old niece had struggled
adjusting to Tech's sprawling campus, but had recently begun making friends
and looking into a sorority. "I think she wanted to try to spread her
wings," she said. Read was an interdisciplinary studies major.

Reema Samaha, 18, a freshman, of Centreville, Va., liked dancing and was a
fan of ballet and belly dancing (a nod to her family's roots in Lebanon),
as well as a member of the school's Contemporary Dance Ensemble. "She just
danced, and laughed and smiled," said Linda D'Orazio, a neighbor. Friends
said she was captivating to watch on stage: "She was just beautiful and
when you watched her, I thought she was one of the most gorgeous girls in
the world inside and out," said Lauren Walters, a Westfield graduate who is
now enrolled at Clemson University.

Waleed Mohammed Shaalan, 32, of Zagazig, Egypt, was a doctoral student in
civil engineering. Shaalan came to Virginia Tech to work with G.V.
Loganathan, an engineering professor who was also killed in Monday's
shooting. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the
Egyptian embassy in Washington was taking necessary measures to fly his
body home. Shaalan was married and the father of a 1-year-old son.

Leslie Sherman, a sophomore from Springfield, Va., was a history and
international studies major. An avid traveler, she was headed to Russia
this summer to study. Her grandmother, Gerry Adams, said Sherman loved
reading and socializing with her "gaggle" of more than 15 cousins spread
out at colleges across the country. She text-messaged one of them the
evening before she died.

Maxine Turner, a senior from Vienna, Va., was a chemical engineering major.
Her father, Paul Turner, says she had finished her required credits and was
preparing for her May graduation, but wanted to take German as an elective.
Turner recently helped found a chapter of Alpha Omega Epsilon, a sorority
for women in engineering. Her interests included Tae Kwon Do, Shakespeare
and Red Hot Chili Peppers. She had accepted a chemical engineering job with
W.L. Gore and Associates, in Elkton, Md. Her father wept today as he
described the loss of his child. He asked why legislators don't put in more
laws to protect people.

Nicole White, 20, a international studies major from Hampton Roads, Va.,
was a junior. She had also worked at a YMCA as a lifeguard.

I had no idea. Apparently someone calling themselves Strange Magic hiding
behind a closed profile (shocker), knows more about me then I do. Imagine
that. All these years I have been wrong about where I live, I wonder who
these people are who are in this house with me and why they let me stay
this long if I am from Texas.

I really think that any one who has commenting privileges should have to
have an open profile (period). That way people have to own their comments,
and we as a community can judge them based on their whole body of "work"
and not just one or two things. My profile is open, I have nothing to
hide. I have probably made a few comments in my time that I am not proud
of in hindsight, but I do not tuck my tail and close my profile and hide so
no one will ever know. I have never said anything on PFB that I am ashamed
of!!

So to all you trouble makers out there that want to make viscious
statements or spew inaccurate information, that is fine with me, but step
up, be an ADULT and open your profile!!

high 70s low 80s. Then yesterday it snowed again and today is in the 40s.
WTF happened? I just don't know, it is baffling. My daughter tells me
that spring starts next week, YAY, I hope so!! I love spring, it is my
favorite time of year, life is renewing, plants and flowers growing, fresh
smells in the air. It is just so rejuvinating!!

Dear Ms. P:

Thank you for taking the time to contact Chick-fil-A. Our customers are
very important to us, and we appreciate your positive feedback.

We want you to have a great dining experience each time you visit one of
our Chick-fil-A restaurants. I have forwarded your kind comments to the
Operator of our Woodbridge, Virginia restaurant so this can be shared with
the managers and team members. We think it's a good thing when we can let
them know how much our Chick-fil-A customers really appreciate the menu
items we prepare and serve each day.

Chick-fil-A strives to create Kid's Meal prizes which are educational
and/or provide character building tools while stimulating adult-child
interaction. We care about the children we touch with our Kid's Meals. It
means so much to hear from our customers that we are on the right track.

We look forward to serving you at one of your local Chick-fil-A Restaurants
again soon.

Sincerely,

Ryan

So I am still recovering from my missing hour of sleep! LOL I had to work
Sunday so no sleeping in for me :(. So does anyone have any Daylight
Saving Time stories?

I know that at the pharmacy this weekend, the weirdos where out in full
force! Not sure if it was a full moon or if the early time change was
messing with people or what but it was strange.

This morning when my daughter was getting on the bus (that was stopped,
with lights flashing and the stop sign thing out on the side) a white
Saturn went flying right by, thank goodness no one was hurt. I stood there
in shock as the car continued to zoom down the road, totally oblivious. I
wonder if it was the time change, arrogance, or ignorance that caused that.
The car was going so fast that I did not see the driver, but the bus
driver got the tag number and I got the description of the car, so they
will be reported.

Yes we are getting yet more snow. The good news is that at least in my
area it did not start until late afternoon, so the kids got a full day of
school in. Many other counties around us got snow earlier (over night) and
their schools where closed today. We dodged a bullet for today, but still
not sure what is going to happen tomorrow.........stay tuned!

I was out running some errands on Wednesday, and for whatever reason I was
more observant of other people's behavior than ever before. I don't know
why, this was not a conscious effort on my part, just something that sort
of happened. It strikes me just how rude and self centered some people
are. I know from just participating here at Plantfeedback for as long as I
have that there are people who truly feel that the world revolves around
them.

Case in point, I walk into the T-Mobile store because I wanted to upgrade
my phone I got a really cool Magenta Razor V3 phone, got a rebate and yes I
had to extend my contract to get the discount on the phone, but I digress.
I walk into the store and there is a customer there being very rude and
disrespectful to the clerk and telling her how she was going to do her job.
The customer (female not that it matters), was just berating this poor
girl, because apparently she was having trouble locating a part that she
needed, the clerk offered to order the part and the woman basically said
make sure you order it then I better not come back here and you not have
it. Really was that necessary? I almost jumped in and said something but
my husband (who knows me very well, and knew that I was about to open my
mouth), shot me a look that said don't you dare. The poor clerk was nearly
in tears, I felt so bad for her that I tried to offer her some words of
comfort but not sure that it helped.

So then later in the same day, I am at BJs, I pick up what I needed,
proceeded to the check out. Well most of their check outs are the self
checkout. Well, at one of the self checkouts next to mine, there was a
Mental Giant/Rocket Scientist trying to use the checkout. He was obviously
an idiot, because he could not figure out that the reason the register
would not ring any of his things was because he had to scan his membership
card to start the process. He proceed to yell and scream at all the
employees and berate them. Once he finally shut up long enough to let
someone help him, it did not take long before he was spouting off again.
It was all his incompetence and all his doing. One of the employees would
not help him any more because he yelled at her for not dropping everything
and ignoring all the other customers to run over and help him. When I left
he was having an argument with the manager......UGH I hate most people.
