Finally scored a job last week after months and months of not hearing a
word back from turning in applications. I work at a place that makes subs,
pizzas, and salads. I make the food (!!!) and make $6.35--not a bad
starting pay at all, if I do say so myself. Shoot, as a supervisor at
Spencer's I only made 15 cents more than that! Anyways, I am basically
away from the customers (thank God) and I quite like that :-)

I am all for tipping where tipping is due. However, it seems like we have
to tip anywhere we go, no matter what the case. Oh, so now we have to tip
baristas (who make above minimum wage) who make our coffee. Or, if someone
pumps the gas--tip them, too! Or, hey, tip your piercer and tattoo artist
because you just KNOW they survive on tips (the place I get mine done at,
the tattoo artists recieve 50% of price of the tattoo they do)! Or, wait!
Remember to tip your hairdresser or manicurist $5 for a "job well done!"

You know, this tipping craze has gone too far. Sure, I agree that you
should tip for when you recieve good service. Hey, I was a waitress, and
understand that some people rely solely upon tips. However, I don't think
it's necessary to tip every. single. person. that provides you with a
service. Do you tip the cashier at the fast food place? Do you tip the
concession worker at the movie theater? Should we tip the cashier at
Target for being quick and nice?

... restaurants do not list the prices of alcohol on their menus. What's
the point? I am poor enough as it is and I really don't feel like paying a
million dollars for a Long Island iced tea. Sure, I can always ask what
the prices are, but it would be VERY effective if restaurants could list
the prices of their alcohol.

The end.

But then I hate it when the menu doesn't list the price for just about
anything. It's not the end of the world or anything, but I'd sure like to
know that that rum n coke is going to cost me more than my meal before I
order it.

The only food on the menu that should not have a price on it is seasonal
stuff. (Usually at a fish restaurant, lobster, shark, etc.)

What I really hate is when you order say... a bud light, and they bring you
a bottle that costs $6, and there are beers on tap for a-buck-fifty. And
then the waitress looks at you funny: "YES, I want the beer on tap! It
costs five dollars less for a glass with two extra ounces in it, DUH!"

You know, I do like this site, I REALLY do. It's sort of the equivalent to
"Well, I would like my job if it weren't for the customers!" Seriously,
some people on this site get so... worked up (for lack of a better
term/word) about letters.

It's one thing to comment on the letter (its subject, grammar, etc.), but
to "attack" the person that posted it is a bit uncalled for. It's one
thing to say "Hey, maybe you should re-write this letter; you do/do not
have a point." But it's a completely different thing to say "Pssh, did you
not graduate high school? Learn to spell! Geez, you are such a whiner!
Get a lifffffe!" Apparently, though, people cannot differentiate between
the two.

I am appalled that people older than myself are acting like they have no
decency. Oh, God forbid you have an opinion that is different from the
masses! Shoot, you'll get reamed out, as well.

Yeah, this is the internet, but it is not an excuse for people to use rude
behavior. Calling people whiners, telling them to get over it, etc. Hey!
This IS a website for "whining," no? Just because you do not think the
situation described in the letter is not worthy does NOT mean the OP has a
point. Sure, sometimes letters ARE pointless, where people are just asking
for freebies.

Just sayin'. :)

You know, I just LOVE the people on this site that flip out when someone
uses race as a descriptive term. I mean, are we really this politcally
correct that one has to describe a person using everything else but his or
her race? I don't see the big deal and it is pathetic that some people
think that people who use race to describe a person are racist. Racist?
When you start calling someone hurtful names such as that, even over the
internet, it becomes personal to an extent. Sure, I don't know you, but
you don't know ME. It is silly to assume something that harsh over a
complete description of a person. Do we not have more important things to
worry about than someone pointing out "OMG, you said she was Asian, are you
a racist?"

What a sad, sad world, well, website :)

So, I was reading one of the letters in the communities section about a
woman dining alone at a restaurant. She described three servers, one of
which was a "heavy-set black girl." Her complaint was valid; not one
server talked to her while she sat there for 15 minutes.

Yet, not ONE commenter got on the OP's ass for calling the server a
"heavy-set black girl." Yet, I get flack for calling the cashier in my
only letter a "black female?" That makes no sense.

I smell a little bit of hypocrisy on this site.

Ah, so this is how I get this blogger thing; I was wondering how.

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Courtney and from Virginia. I am a
college senior, and already have an A.S in Social Science which I am VERY
proud of. Education is important to me. Regardless, I am clueless about
what I want to be when I grow up, LOL. Somehow, I really want to join the
FBI or CIA. Yeah, I don't know.

I have 10 tattoos that I have a love/hate relationship with. Sometimes I
regret the ones on my arms. People nowadays have balls! I've been called
CRAZY by strangers because, OH MY LORD, I have star outlines on my arms.
No f'in way! A chick with such prominent tattoos? Get out of town!

I love music. It's my passion. Granted I can't play any instruments or
carry a tune, but I love music. I love lyrics. I love how people have the
ability to put certain words alongside each other. It's genius.

I'm out.
