Forty years ago today, Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffee died in a
tragic launchpad fire in the Apollo 1 capsule. Today's My Oklahoma Life
blog is a tribute to these American heroes.

Microsuck Windows has completely obliterated its own record and set a whole
new standard for hype in its LOOONG touted release (release? did I day
release?) of Windows Vista and Office 2007. Never before in the history of
hype has anyone carried it to this extreme. With its release of Windows XP,
Microsuck became the first private entity in history to actually out-hype
the Republican Party. But even the Republican Party has standards (albeit
not very high ones) and Microsuck's latest round of hype has left
Republican leaders standing in the dust.

A Microsuck spokesperson said that Microsuck is already set to begin hyping
the next release of Windows called Windows 2026.

I've recruited a very exceptional guest blogger who may eventually take
over the Geology category of my blog. He's rock hound and an experienced
geocacher and I feel lucky to have his help. Here's his home blog:

http://gpsokie.blogspot.com/

Like me, he stays pretty busy but I hope that, between us, we can add a lot
of geology and geocaching entries to My Oklahoma Life.

One of the reasons that I haven't kept a blog here is because I already
have one elsewhere and I don't have time even for it, much less for two. So
I'll post the current topic of the real blog here from time to time in case
there might from time to time be someone here that's interested in
discussing it (as grownups).

My blog is mainly about life in Oklahoma but its scope evolves as my
interests evolve. Based on a few surveys filled out by my visitors, people
are mainly interested in outdoor stuff and the current slant is toward
geology and geocaching.

The current blog is on Google Earth and a program called Adventure
Planner.
