I am amazed, at times, with the number of member replies to postings they simply seem to take issue with. Not just the postings that appear "absurd," but on just about any of them. By this, I mean, shear vitriol and profoundly personal attacks.
Why does the PF community seem to tolerate some of these (as I regard them) "cliques of doom?" Rather than taking time to constructively criticize posts, these folks find it necessary to make the person in question feel as though they have done something profoundly stupid. Through such replies, it appears these comments serve little more than a method for these folks to get their anger and hostility out. God forbid if someone makes spelling or grammar mistakes; oh, the humanity!
I read a lot of posts here. Many of which appear ridiculous and silly. But, I accept that in such a forum. These people are venting their frustration in the best way they know how, but here come the demons -- out to prove a person point. And for what? I simply don't know.
It would be nice if some of these "regulars" would spend a bit more time just practicing some manners, rather than to promote a tone of hostility and resentment towards something they read.
Remember, these posts are "personal" to the people who write them. When you assault their position or point-of-view, you are also assaulting THEM on a PERSONAL level.
Nothing wrong with be constructive. No matter how "idiotic" the remark.
