I figured I'd better update my blog or get knocked out of the top 25 by the prolific Bella Sera (only kidding)

So we have more car woes. The Escort is totalled and we are selling it for parts. That was great up until Sunday. We were left with three cars, my F150, his Mustang (which I hate driving because it's very low and difficult to get in and out of), and his Contour which has now been in the shop since January! So really we still had two cars.

Well on Sunday, he got stuck with my F150. A spark plug came out. He got it running and we had the mechanic look at it. We need a new head or something like that. A big job. Our mechanic already located the parts but will save us money by working on it in his off hours. So now our four car family is down to one car!

We had been talking about buying something smaller to save some money on gas. I didn't want to buy something new and put us in debt again. It turns out one of the companies I work for is selling surplus vehicles so we just bought at 2003 Ford Escape for $6000. It's in very good condition. We looked up the blue book value on it and even in "fair" condition, it's worth at least $7900.

It seems to be good timing also. It looks like my mother may be staying with us for a while until her knee gets better or she has surgery. She just can't get around anymore and she lives on the second floor. The Escape will be the right size to get her around. Normally she can get in the F150 but not now and that darn Mustang is so low!

I really wasn't ready to get another vehicle but at least we got something at a reasonable price.
