Re: GPS Feature Disabled by Verizon
by APCO25guy - Posted Sun October 7, 2007 @ 12:03 AM

Verizon has a history of crippling connectivity on devices (such as Bluetooth and aGPS application access) to force you to use their GetItNow value added services instead of using free or open source applications. Do what I do, fire them and move to a GSM carrier such as T-Mobile or at&t, buy unlocked phones and get free of their crippling of devices and nickel and dime attitude. At least with GSM you are free to use any unlocked device, just insert your SIM card. It may take a little work to get advanced features like SMS/data working but you have an uncrippled device you are free to what you wish with. Can't do that with any of the control freak CDMA operators, as you can only use their branded crippled hardware on their networks.
