You say that you have the option of returning the unit. If that's true, are you able to return it and still maintain the contract? You don't necessarily have to purchase the unit through Verizon, you can purchase it from an independent source. That's usually more expensive than purchasing it through your service provider, but it may be worth it if you want all of the features the phone has to offer.
