I am a little confused. I thought you didn't order an appitizer? Why when you first walk in would you tell the hostess you were there just for the apps? You say after she brings your drinks you don't see her again but then say that she brings the meals. Understand where I am coming from? If you don't want this nit-picked explain a little better.
Anyway, you were compensated unless you feel as though your whole meal should have been free. Just a thought, next time you walk into an establishment and you get that sort of treatment right off the get go- walk out, then you have nothing to complain about.
