The Imus situation was a complete gaffe. While I dont think he should have gotten fired for it, I do think that he chose his words very poorly - but there was no actual substance to what he said. In other words, I dont think he was trying to accomplish anything or really give an opinion about a current event. He's been more then apologetic, and has taken strides to let everyone know that his "nappy headed" comment does not reflect who he is or how he percieves people.
Bill Mahers comment (I have not seen this show, I gather this from what I am reading) is trying to bring attention to something that has been swept under a rug for years, years longer then what has been in the media recently.
To call Bill Maher a rapist and a nazi because you don't agree with the way he spoke about a very TRUE and REAL problem speaks volumes of your maturity and insight on the issue.
There is a center for preists to go to near my old
neighborhood that was a help center for priests who have gotten caught with "pedophilia tendencies"(The only reason i know about the center is that my sister is a therapist... Otherwise you would have no way of finding out.) Why arent these priests going to JAIL? Why arent they facing REAL consequences for their actions? Why is the church sweeping this under the rug???
