I don't know enough about what Microsoft should or shouldn't do for you, and my take on this might be completely wrong, but it is interesting that because you didn't succeed in working the system (as it appears you knew exactly what you were doing), you think Microsoft should somehow be responsible to assist you in carrying out your plan.
This may be naive of me, but instead of profiting from someone else's misfortune, why didn't you tell the seller how to get the console fixed/replaced? Stupid question, right?
