Nicor doesn't just shut off your gas due to an oversight on 1 bill. You had to have been past due about 90 days or more for them to do something so drastic.
Granted they didn't have to be as rude as they were to you, but technically it wasn't important to you so why should you be important to them.
Not trying to be rude or callous but that is just the way it is now.
