Because they aren't experienced or mature enough to know it could potentially kill them. They also aren't mature or experienced enough to know that not wearing a seatbelt can kill them.... so an adult buckles them in, because the adult DOES have the maturity to know that not wearing one can kill.

But you still don't think you should wear one.

Even though you're the mature adult who knows it could kill....

Talk about a double standard.
