Re: JetBlue Flight Fiasco!

My son, Michael is a U.S. Marine Corporal stationed at Camp Pendleton California. He was raised in Vermont and has flown many times to Burlington, Vermont while on leave. Jet Blue flies to Burlington (a small airport)so this is a natural for him. My wife and I have made a practice of flying Jet Blue whenever possible too. I have noticed in the last 3 years their customer service is slipping. The horror stories aside (12 hours stuck on a runway @ JFK, Backup of the toilet system on 1 plane resulting in human waste running down the aisle, etc) Jet Blue took the cake with my son yesterday. He was to leave Burlington @ 4:30 yesterday afternoon. The flight was delayed supposedly due to rain. The odd thing was despite this delay, Michael indicated to me that other airlines were flying in & out of Burlington during this Jet Blue delay. My son had to report back to Pendleton as his leave was set to expire. He asked several representatives of JB if he would make his connecting flight at JFK (6:40 PM) The Burlington flight arrived at JFK @ 6:25, He de-boarded the plane @ 6:30PM arriving at the gate for his San Diego flight @ 6:35 PM. They were locking the gate and would not allow him on. He said tothe Jet Blue CSR that he needed to be back at Pendleton. They told him he would have to wait till morning. He then asked them to put him up in a hotel. They refused telling him
weather related delays are not their fault. He spoke with several supervisors to no avail. The so called weather delay was an excuse because they sold his seat. He's out $129.00 for a hotel room, dinner, breakfast, and parking for an extra day at San Diego's airport. To make matters worse he also lost a day of leave so he could put up with Jet Blue's garbage. Michael leaves for a second tour of duty in Iraq in September. Jet Blue has disrespected my family for the last time. We fly quite often. We used to fly only Jet Blue. Never again. Word of mouth is powerful advertising. I am now on a mission. This airline's propaganda says they're all about service. It's sad that an individual who is making the ultimate sacrifice in service to his country is mistreated by another one of America's greedy corporations. It's sad that this once promising airline which seemed to do things differently as a startup, now takes their customers for granted.
God Bless and Protect Our Troops.
Sincerely,
