....if you have a receipt you should have gotten a refund/exchange. I didn't catch that part.
It is a shame, however, that after one bad incident with one particular store, you vow to never go there again. Hell, I got scammed by an employee of Krystal Burger, but that does not mean if I am hungry, I won't have a burger there. I just won't go to that particular location.
I'm not trying to sound preachy since I work with PetSmart, but this is not the way employees should act. Your letter will be read, and they will get reprimanded for it. You didn't do anything wrong. The onnnnly thing I can think of for them to act like that is if the receipt was a copy, like you scanned it and brought that paper in...not common but it does happen.
If you enjoy this place....GO TO ANOTHER ONE!!! There are some PetSmarts here that I don't go to because the staff stinks...it is like that EVERYWHERE with EVERY COMPANY. We teach great customer service, but if folks decide not to follow that, there is not much we can do except reprimand them, and if it persists termination may be called for.
I challenge you to just go in to another location just to check it out, not even to buy anything...and see if the overall atmosphere is nicer. The company is not supposed to act the way you described, and responsible managers/employees know this.
