Re: Thanks for Making a Cake for Adolf Hitler Campbell, Walmart
by CashFlowChallengedBellaSera - Posted Wed December 17, 2008 @ 7:40 PM

Actually, I sort of agree with you Brad. While I certainly wouldn't name MY child Adolph Hitler, I do support the parents' rights to name their kids whatever they want. And while I understand ShopRite's position on this, I don't think it's really their call to make. The parents are paying customers; if they want their cake to say "Happy Birthday Adolph Hitler", they should get it.

Now, before everyone jumps on my case, no, I don't think Adolph Hitler is a great choice for a name. And I can't decide if I find it amusing or galling that the parents supposedly can't understand what all the fuss is about. You name your kid Adolph Hitler and you don't understand what people find offensive about it? Then again, for parents who also named one of their kids Aryan Nation, I guess this type of reaction would be a shock.

The parents claim they're not racist. They may be right. However, I think they're something else entirely. I'll let everyone else figure out what the "something else" is.
