Re: American Express Lowered My Credit Limit Following Payment
by KIA J. - Posted Wed January 28, 2009 @ 8:39 AM

This is absolutely amazing to me!!!!! I swore that I was the only the customer who was suffering from their unfair practices. I paid AMEX $7,800.00 three months ago, thinking that I was bringing down my balance. Two days later I went online to purchase airline tickets and my card was declined. I immediately called AMEX and they gave me the same story stating that Experian reported derogatory latesnesses on my credit report. I told them that this was impossible.... Coincidentally, I had recently pulled my credit report just a few days ago and it was in "good standing." Moreover, I asked for their fax number to prove to them this was an error. I allowed them time to review the credit report, and about a week I called back only to hear a different excuse.

My credit limit has been reduced to $32,000.00 and I fear the more I make large payments, the less available credit I will have. Quite the conundrum?????
