R.I.P. Harley
by Ms. Harleycat - Posted Wed January 28, 2009 @ 1:22 PM

I came home from work today to find my beloved Harleycat dead. She had been ill for a while and took a turn for the worse in the last couple of days. She wouldn't eat or drink. We discussed putting her to sleep last night and were going to call the vet this afternoon but she didn't make it. She was almost 18 yrs old.

I found her on a cold, rainy October evening in a park. I think she was part of a litter that had been abandoned because she was just too friendly to be feral. I took her home with me and she just took to me immediately. It was late so I couldn't find a place to buy a litterbox but got some litter, food and an aluminum roasting pan to use as a litterbox. She took to the box right away and almost immediately took to sleeping on my pillow wrapped around my head.

I know she's in a better place now and had a good life with me but I'm still really upset. She was also my husband's girl. She took to him right away and she didn't always do that.
