One would think that with a special ending after the credits, the distribution/production companies would somehow notify the theatres so they could be prepared to keep the film playing beyond the credits.

The ending should be available on the internet by now (thanks to Cosmo Kramer) -- I hope you get to see it without waiting 6 months for it to come out on DVD.
