Re: American Express Lowered My Credit Limit Following Payment
by Robert B. - Posted Thu February 5, 2009 @ 3:09 AM
They did this three time to me in that past four months. I too, just made a sizeable lump sum payment because when they reduced my credit line on two cards, they effectively cause my FICO score to go down because of the updated ratio of debt to credit limit. I just received another email that they cut the limit again on one card that was cut four months ago. My FICO score was 738 (average across the Big Three).
I have NEVER been late (that's right , never) on any payments to any of my accounts, my score across all the Big Three is average of 725 (which is going to go down again now), and I have ALWAYS paid way more than required minimum, an all my accounts.
Guess what, AMEX? I am closing my accounts tomorrow and am going to make sure everyone I know that has an AMEX account aware of how you treat loyal cardholders. Its funny how I googled "Notice of Credit Limit Reduction," which was the heading of my email and this website came up #1.
If I weren't a god-fearing man, my words would be much harsher. I truly believe that your actions are discriminatory, constitute unfair business trade practices, and are character assassinations on those of us that take great care to be timely.
Derogatorily,
