I don't think they can come after you for these fees. It's been a long time since I was kneedeep in landlord/tenant law, but I am finding it difficult to believe they have recourse at this late date.

Of course, you'd not have to pay any clean-up fees (generally--many landlords are evil bastages about this stuff and suck big time) if you clean your apartment properly when you move out.
