Re: American Express Lowered My Credit Limit Following Payment
by Domina - Posted Fri March 13, 2009 @ 12:28 PM

I am right there with the rest of you. Last Saturday I received an automated phone call from American Express stating that my limit had been lowered. I steamed about this for an hour and then I called only to be told by not only the robot sitting in the cubicle but also by their supervisor that my limit was lowered to do the my making payments that were too close to my minimum monthly required payment and that three months ago I was delinquent with another credit card. First of all I have never been late with any other creditor and each month I have paid anywhere from three to four times the required minimum to them - they are out right lying to their customers. I told the supervisor that by them lowering my limit it would have a negative impact on my credit score and all the stupid woman could say was "I know." God, she was so flip about it and I started to imagine being able to lower her score. Currently my FICO is (was) 744 (average of all 3). American Express obviously no longer rewards its dedicated customers. I will be closing this card as soon as possible.
