Re: American Express Lowered My Credit Limit Following Payment

American Express treats it's good standing customers like criminals. After a relationship with them for almost 10 years (and I'm not even 30) they decide to cut my credit limit in half.
They say they have a evaluated my credit history and have decided to cut my available balance from 12,500 to 5,000. Obviously I wasn't close to the limit, and I pay at least double of what the required minimum payment should be. The customer service rep kept telling me after evaluating your credit history we made a business decision to lower your limit.
I have almost an 800 credit score and you don't keep that by not knowing how to handle your finances. The obviously don't value customer service or do they care about the relationship you have built and established with them.
They lowered my credit limit, yet they continue to call and offer me a credit monitoring so they can get paid, and offers to open more cards. The rep said that they didn't know my history before they sent the offers - so I said "you don't check the history of people who have no cards with you, but you do check the credit for people have long lasting relationships of no negative account history" - surprise, she didn't have a response for that - seem backwards to me!
