Sell by Dates vs Expiration Dates
by RowdyRetailer - Posted Wed August 5, 2009 @ 12:41 PM

Read a post about this recently

People dont seem to understand the difference

At my store, Dairy Sour Cream's date is Sept 30, 2009.

Too many people think they can go home and open it today and it will stay fresh til Sept 30, 2009.

They do not read the side of the package that says consume within 7 days of opening.

The same applies to refrigerated Orange Juice, it may have a date pretty far out, but once you break that seal, most say 7-10 days

My Deli in my store uses Milk. When the health department comes, they are looking for a label, that we put on there, when the milk expires.

We are told it is 7 days from when it is opened. Regardless of what the preprinted date on the milk says.

Good Day
