Not every vet...

...has been in the line of fire. Point being that just because someone was in the military doesn't automatically make them a hero. There are plenty of heros. And some of them work at Walmart, teach school, work in banks, sweep streets, and so forth.

And, getting back to the letter, what's important here is that there a human being in need. I don't think that, had he been a Walmart checker, he deserves any less respect that someone that joined the military.
