Could have fallen off when you were on your way to the table. Could have fallen off on your way out the door.

You can't be 150% sure, and I don't see how you can be 100% sure. You don't know when or where it when missing. Maybe one of your buddies was jealous you had the ring, saw it fall off and took it. Who knows?
