Of course not, you are past the return window.
There has to be some time limit on returns - you can't keep something for two years and then return it. TRU came up with 45 days, which seems generous. Many stores have a 30 day return policy.
If I were your friend, and you told me this story, I would ask why you waited so long to return an item you knew you didn't need. ESPECIALLY since money is tight. I definitely would not stop shopping there because of this.
Maybe you can sell it on Ebay.
