Instead of replying to a few common threads below...

I'll post here...
My intent was not to support those that feel like bringing their "checked size worthy" luggage on board as carry on. I loathe those types of people in terms of airplane etiquette.
Instead, I am one of many upset about this fee for anything that goes in the overhead bin. Big difference.
This is not going to pay for people to police luggage sizes, as some have suggested. It's not in place as a feel good helper for customers by ridding of carry on issues, etc. It was done purely to generate cash for the airline. Their right to charge, my right to not fly them.
I have too many options personally. *shrugs* Spirit used to be very competitive for traditional vacation destinations (FL, SC, etc) from Michigan. Not so much now.
