I wasn't aware and I really appreciated what the CSR did - he didn't expect me to know the specs. Who walks around with those in their heads? Certainly not the average consumer.
And the bottom line is that businesses don't get to dictate to the customers what the customers SHOULD be happy with, a la just take the Mustang and be glad you got anything.
I think when a customer makes a reservation for a specific class of car, then the business should honor it. It would be the same as making a reservation at a restaurant for a party of 5 and being told they have to squeeze around a two-top.
And if the reservation isn't honored, I absolutely agree that the customer has a valid complaint.
