calling his opinion "simplistic and ridiculous" is a bit strong isn't it? I'd say you were attacking him but we all know you would never do that to someone who might have a different opinion than your own.
he's not the only one who thinks avatar is anti-military and, frankly, the backlash against the film is Cameron's own fault. You cant dress the film's "security force" up in Marine type garb with Marine type designations and symbols and not have people make a connection especially when you portray the "security force" as a bunch of blood thirsty villains whose only goal is to destroy things.
personally, i think that's exactly what Cameron intended and all his post film release denials are being made with a wink and a nod to his constituency.
