I can't imagine

'making do' with something that could make you ill.
When I go out for breakfast (which is not that often) I order my eggs scrambled. The thought of over easy eggs (with the yolk oozing out all over the place) turns my stomach. Ugh. Vile. If the server brought me eggs over easy instead of scrambled, damn straight it's going back to the kitchen. And that's just an adversion, not an allergy.
Sometimes people need to speak up - and as long as they do it nicely, there should not be a confrontation or any hard feelings. A simple "I'm sorry, I ordered this without onions - I'm allergic - please remake it. Thank you!" should do the trick.
