This is a safety issue. It's completely unsafe for a pedestrian to be walking through narrow DT lanes with no easy way to escape.

Escape what? you ask. A car that is sliding on the icy road. A person who hits the gas instead of the brake. Your basic parking lot/DT idiot who drives fast and screeches to a halt.

As a driver using a bank's DT , I look for cars or trucks or minivans or SUVs in a DT. Not someone on foot or on a bicycle or in a shopping cart.

You mentioned the cold weather, which made your walk to the bank unpleasant. You'd be even colder by standing outside in what is basically a small wind tunnel.
