Why would the associate need to apologize for doing her job?

The manager confirmed what she said, so she is following company procedure. You have used the same coupon three times now - and it isn't even from Home Depot! Rowdy is correct, you have given HD no incentive to keep you as a customer. "Great customer service" doesn't mean being a doormat.
