If your problem starts with "I am...."

I told a woman I work with that if her problem starts with "I am" then it is her problem not mine. For example she complains that she can't sleep because she's pregnant. That's an "I am" problem which means it is her problem not the rest of the world. In other words, she needs to quit acting like the world is out to get her because she decided to get pregnant. I have no patience for that "the world is out to get me" mentality. If you have a problem that starts with "I am" you can either change it or deal with it. Either way, the reason it is a problem is because YOU let it be. Not because the rest of the world causes it to be.
