I have found the people at Sally Beauty to be FAR more helpful. When my idiot Ex (who has naturally jet black hair) decided to go "blonde" and made a giant Heatmiser-ish mess of his frizzy curly hair, they offered suggestions on how to fix it and reminded him that very few people with naturally dark hair ever look good as a blonde!

But honestly, if the experience has NEVER been good, it calls into question why you'd even trust them for something that major.
