While many store brands are made in the same factory, the quality can vary. For example, you will probably get a lot more smaller pieces and crumbs in your flaked corn than you will get in your corn flakes.

We always notice this in the fried onions we use in our green bean casserole. If you buy the name brand you get large pieces of onion while the generic is mostly small pieces. This does affect the texture of the end product.
