Tipping the baristas
by Courtdog - Posted Mon July 24, 2006 @ 12:56 PM

I REALLY do not get the whole "tip your barista" craze. In fact, a post in the LJ community, called Customers Suck, prompted me to write this; someone complained that "if I make you 5 drinks, put a dollar in the tip jar!" What? Are you kidding me? As I recall, baristas make ABOVE minimum wage. Why should I tip you if you are, um, you know, DOING your job (a job, dare I say, that does not require tipping). Being extremely poor is not an excuse, sure, but I am a college student and JUST got a job, and now I am expected to tip at places that seem, uh, wierd. Sorry, barista, but I am NOT tipping you. And I mean that nicely, I swear! :)
