Without anything more to go on but the fact that you are African-American, you decided that you were the victim of racism because the cashier checked your purchase. Did you make this complaint in the hope of receiving a gift card or some free stuff from Target?

You, sir, are one more reason why when REAL cases of racism and discrimination happen, people are very skeptical of the victim's story. Too many have played the race card like this.
