Out of Curiosity

I went to the Verizon website and opened a ticket (did not complete it) on my mother's phone. Our names are different and I'm not listed on her account anywhere. I was able to open a ticket with just her phone number and listing me as the contact with a phone number in a different area code. I was never asked to verify any information and on the final confirmation page, they showed my mother's name. All I had to do was hit "submit" and I would have scheduled a repair visit for Tuesday morning. So, by using the website, anyone can submit a repair for anyone. Scary huh?
I'm assuming Verizon has tons of lawyers advising them so I guess, legally, they don't see it as a privacy issue.
