Lawyer hat on:

Stop. Right now. If you are going to sue for injuries, about the worst thing you could, potentially, do to your case is post it in a public forum. If you really and truly think you have been injured - go to your doctor. Find out if you've been hurt. Get yourself well first. Get his or her opinion on the extent of your injury. If you feel you must sue, consult a lawyer ~ make sure you are realistic in your expectations. I see lots of clients with grandiose ideas of striking it rich by suing a big company with deep pockets. Unfortunately, I get to tell them that lawsuits take time and cost money - things clients don't want to hear.

The fact of the matter is that the manager was probably covering him or herself for the possibility of a lawsuit. Too many people would consider an "I'm sorry" to be an admission of liability.

In fact, the OPPOSITE has been show - in a study of litigants injured by their doctors, an "I'm sorry" from a provider reduced the likelihood of a lawsuit.

Lawyer hat off:

I hope Applebee's responds to your complaint as to the foreign body in your meal. I expect, however, that they will not find fault with the manager. Especially since if you sue then, they are going to need his testimony.
