Apparently this story is true. There are several newspaper articles about it. She did file a police report and has retained an attorney.

From what I read, she took her car there for a tire replacement. They told her it would be several hours so she went shopping. When she went back, she found that all they did was put sealant in the tire. After speaking to the manager, he agreed to replace the tire for free. She went off again and this guy, who had been hanging around the shop all day said he was her husband and just needed to get something out of the car. The keys were in it (or they gave him the keys) and he took off. Here is a link to the story:
