It's not a scam, there are times when calls made during a particular billing cycle do not show up until one or two billing cycles later. Does it say what this charge is for? Is it for a pro rated amount of your monthly charge? Is it for a long distance call?

When I cancel a phone line, I always wait one billing cycle after the final bill to see what charges and/or credits appear before I make payment.
